Worshiping the Lord at Home:
This was a requested topic to discuss, so I am so happy to be discussing home worship in my post today. While we should all be involved in a church somewhere, family worship is essential too. I am going to share some things my husband and I do for our at home worship.
Pray Together
This one is huge and is one of my favorites. Yes, it is simple. However, life can tend to get very busy and we often do not do this as often as we should. Praying together only strengthens our marriage, our relationship with Christ, and only pushes our husband’s to be the Spiritual leader God has called them to be.
If I am stressed and worrying about things going on around me, my husband will stop what he is doing and pray for me. He has done that to the point where I do this also with him. The Lord is glorified in it, we lean on Him, and my husband and I both are growing in our walk. Praying is such a powerful tool. I do not say these things to brag, but to only show you the effect it has. Sometimes when my husband is struggling, I stop what I am doing and pray for my husband or I suggest that we pray about it together right then. If you do not pray together with your husband, I highly encourage it. Maybe it is not something you are used to doing, and it can be uncomfortable at first. The more you do it the easier it gets and the closer your marriage will grow.
Reading Together
This is one that can be tough to add into a busy day, but is very important. I suggest you read together separately from your own quiet time. Sometimes I would count our Bible reading together as my quiet time with the Lord and that is not the same. You need separate time with Jesus, but also time to read with your husband. I let my husband read, as he is the leader of our home and it just seems to fit. He will read a passage and we will talk about it for a bit and if I have questions I will ask. I really love this and I view it as a type of worship!
Singing
This is one we actually do not do, but should. My husband is not a fan of music so this one is tough. He sings in church, but singing at home is rare. However, ladies you can absolutely worship the Lord on your own with singing! CCW actually has a Spotify Playlist if you want to check that out here. We have compiled a list of great worship songs for yall!
You can find it at the end of this post!
Singing is such a wonderful form of worship and I think we should do it more often than we do. I definitely need to sing more worship music and praise God for all he has done.
Fasting
Fasting is a big one. You can fast from food, but if you are like me and NEED food then I highly suggest fasting from your phone, social media, tv, whatever you crave. When you feel the urge to watch that show or get on your phone… PRAY! I need to do this more, but I have fasted from food and I did not do well. I was exhausted, weak, felt very sick, and had a throbbing headache. I don’t think this glorified the Lord as I need food and my husband always urges me to be sure I am eating right as I have some health issues.
It was hard for me to pray and remember what the purpose of fasting was for. I finally realized I can still fast, but fast from something other than food.
